The
regional health authorities that service the residents of
Northern Alberta offer a mixture of regional centers complemented
by numerous community hospitals that tend to the day-to-day needs
of its residents. In/out patient services, emergency, surgical,
and diagnostic/imaging services; it's all within our region. A professional
base of dietitians, speech, occupational, and physical therapists
also work in our region to ensure our residents receive total care.
Working side-by-side with our public health services
are private practitioners, including dentists, optometrists and chiropractors.

Our northern Child & Family Services Authorities oversee a range
of services, including child welfare, day care, family violence prevention
services, services for children with disabilities and early intervention
programs.

Specialty counselling and support programs are offered through
provincial agencies such as Alberta Mental Health, Alberta Alcohol
& Drug Abuse Commission (AADAC), Persons With Developmental Disabilities
and Seniors Advisory Councils. Numerous non-profit agencies and
private counsellors augment the range of services available.
Together,
the health professionals in our region tend to the vitality of our
communities and the well-being of our residents.
