Health & Human Services

The regional health authorities that service the residents of Northern Alberta offer a mixture of regional centers complemented by numerous community hospitals that tend to the day-to-day needs of its residents. In/out patient services, emergency, surgical, and diagnostic/imaging services; it's all within our region. A professional base of dietitians, speech, occupational, and physical therapists also work in our region to ensure our residents receive total care.

Working side-by-side with our public health services are private practitioners, including dentists, optometrists and chiropractors.

Our northern Child & Family Services Authorities oversee a range of services, including child welfare, day care, family violence prevention services, services for children with disabilities and early intervention programs.

Specialty counselling and support programs are offered through provincial agencies such as Alberta Mental Health, Alberta Alcohol & Drug Abuse Commission (AADAC), Persons With Developmental Disabilities and Seniors Advisory Councils. Numerous non-profit agencies and private counsellors augment the range of services available.

Together, the health professionals in our region tend to the vitality of our communities and the well-being of our residents.
