Northern Alberta is a mixture of over 150 communities spread across 380,000 km2 of forests, fields, foothills, rivers, and lakes. Three cities, 24 towns, 24 First Nations communities, eight Métis settlements, and a multitude of hamlets and summer villages all nestled along our rivers and lakes, in foothills, and on expansive farmlands.

We have a diverse population, living in long-established communities or quickly expanding urban centres.

So much change has happened in such a short amount of time in Northern Alberta. With ever-expanding economic growth, remote communities are becoming fewer and fewer as governments and industries build access roads, lay airstrips, and design the infrastructure for our telecommunications system.

We are proud and energetic with a commitment to quality community life. Our communities offer key health, education, and human services. We also offer numerous amenities and commerce. You too will be impressed with our high standard of living. When you arrive, be sure to take note of the community welcome sign. This is your first clue to the uniqueness you are about to venture into.

 That's Northern Alberta!
