Once you are settled in it's time to explore! How about horseback
riding in Grande Cache's spectacular Smoky River Mountains, cousin
to the Rockies. How about jet-boating up Peace River to Alberta's
only river access Dude Ranch or to a cabin on a 60-acre island.
Let's go over to Fort McMurray's Oil Sands Discovery Center and
tour a mine. Or tour through Whitecourt's 10 km2 Demonstration
Forest to learn about the life of a forest and forest management
practices. You might spend a weekend surrounded by the lush forest
and sparkling waters of Lakeland Provincial Park, or on the sandy
beaches of the Lesser Slave Lake.

Our region also offers out-of-the-way unique experiences.
Visit the beauty of the Great Canadian Shield on the north shore
of Lake Athabasca. Wood Buffalo National Park, the largest wilderness park in Canada,
also encompasses the largest freshwater delta in the world. Nearby
is the Athabasca Sand Dune Ecological Reserve, which protects the
largest active dune field in Alberta.
There is plenty to show off
to visiting friends and relatives. This and so much more await you.
That's Northern Alberta!
