Northern Alberta is an integral part of the strongest Provincial
economy in Canada. Alberta's Gross Domestic Product grew from $75
Billion in 1992 to $150 Billion in 2002, doubling in just 10 years! Northern Alberta is a significant contributor to this
growth. Consider the facts:
Northern Alberta covers 60% of Alberta's land but only has 9%
of the population.
The per capita economic contribution of Northern Albertans has
been consistently higher than the rest of Alberta
Northern Alberta exported $6.6 billion of crude oil products
(52% of Alberta's total).
Northern Alberta exported $2.1 billion of forest products (75%
of Alberta's Total).

|
Northern Alberta exported $321 million of
agricultural products (19% of Alberta's total). Rich in
natural resources, our future keeps getting better! The secret to
Northern Alberta's prosperity is that we have capitalized on our
strengths in energy, agriculture, and forestry to develop a dynamic
and diverse economy. Strategic use of our profits from our natural
resources has opened the door of prosperity to a host of other
industries and services.

Innovation, modernization, and a committed, vibrant workforce
have helped us to become a major competitor in many sectors.
Taxes? Alberta is the only province in Canada that has no provincial
sales tax, and our provincial income is the lowest in Canada, and
business taxes are among the lowest in the country. We have also increased the amount for
personal and spousal income exemption rates to roughly double that
of the standard exemption in other provinces. Added to these shared
provincial benefits is Northern Alberta's inclusion in the northern
residents tax exemption.
The further north you
live, the more likely you are to receive the full benefit.
That's
Northern Alberta!
