Education is our future! Our educational professionals, communities,
government and industry all work together to make sure we reach
our full potential. Northern There
are over 65,000 elementary and high school students in close to
300 schools being governed by 20 School Authorities reflecting a combination
of Public, Catholic, First Nations, Francophone, and Private options.
Northern Alberta employs more than 5000 teachers to ensure our
youth receive the highest quality education. Professional
development days for our teachers are incorporated into every school
in Northern Alberta.

We want our teachers to get the time and resources needed
to learn, reflect, and recharge. Complimenting local professional
development days is the annual three-day regional gathering of all
teachers, which is coordinated by the Alberta Teacher's Association.

Our School Districts also consist of professional services such
as educational psychology, special needs coordinators, curriculum
specialists, and computer technical support. Unique partnerships
such as the Student Health Initiative have created school-based
services in occupational, speech, physical, and behavioral therapies.
Our region boasts a variety of post-secondary options, with a
university, four publicly funded colleges, one technical
institution, First Nations colleges and many private
training institutions.
You can make a difference. That's
Northern Alberta!
