Northern Alberta has all shades and shapes of green - leaves and
needles that is. It is home to most of Alberta's forests; over 34
million hectares! Our region has a very successful and productive
forest industry that accounted for close to 75% of the over $8.4
Billion generated by forestry in Alberta in 2004.
The forestry industry is a reflection of our diversity. Using
softwood and hardwood, international pulp and paper mills operate
alongside local saw-mills, lumber yards, and logging companies.

Our exports
range from lumber, to strandboard, fiberboard, pulp, and engineered
building products.

the Boreal Forest Research Centre promote wise use of timber, and
expanded economic opportunities

. The Woodland Operations Learning
Foundation offers standardized training to front line operators who
mush adjust to rapidly evolving harvesting practices and
environmental issue. All strategic forestry management practices ensures
our region will benefit from the continued renewal of this natural
resource.
